This summer, experience Spotlight’s bilingual performing arts programs — artistic and educational workshops that combine acting, singing, dancing, in the heart of Barranco
Over eight weeks, students in the Introductory Workshop will immerse themselves in the world of High School Musical Jr., Disney’s hit musical that brings together music, friendship, and teamwork. Meanwhile, students in the Performing Arts Program will work on In the Heights, a musical that strengthens their English through art, music, and performance.
Two different programs, designed to match each student’s level of experience and training needs.
Summer 2026 Programs
High School Musical & In The Heights
This summer, we offer two programs for different levels, each featuring a musical selected according to the type of training each group requires.
The Introductory Workshop (IMT) will work on High School Musical JR., while the Musical Theatre Production Program (PAP) will work on In the Heights. About High School Musical
High School Musical JR. is an excellent entry point into musical theatre for students who are taking their first steps in singing, acting, and movement. Its relatable storyline allows participants to focus on learning the fundamentals of stage work within a motivating and accessible environment.
Vocally, the musical offers songs with clear melodic lines and accessible lyrics, making them ideal for developing pitch accuracy, projection, and confidence in English. The choreography is designed to introduce coordination, rhythm, and spatial awareness without requiring prior experience, supporting a gradual integration of voice and movement.
Altogether, High School Musical JR. provides a solid and encouraging training experience for those looking to discover musical theatre, build confidence, and develop a technical foundation for future growth.
The Educational Value of In The Heights for the Performing Arts Program
Why It Is the Ideal Musical for Intermediate-Level Training
Since its Broadway debut, In the Heights, created by Lin-Manuel Miranda (creator of Hamilton), has stood out for its energy, rhythmic richness, and strong sense of community. It is a musical that resonates with young performers seeking a greater artistic challenge.
At Spotlight, we chose In the Heights because through rap, hip hop, salsa, and ensemble work, students develop rapid English diction, rhythmic precision, and group coordination, building a solid technical foundation while still enjoying the creative process.
The musical also offers characters with clear emotional arcs and ensemble-driven scenes that encourage listening and collaboration. Each participant learns to integrate singing, acting, and movement with greater technical awareness and stage presence.

The Spotlight Journey
At Spotlight, we fast-track building English fluency for youth in Latin America through the power of musical theatre —taking students from the stage to the world.
This isn’t just education; it’s a movement -- using the most unconventional means -- performing arts. We’re working towards a future where the English language is no longer a barrier but a bridge to opportunity in Latin America. Let’s make it happen together!
